A Dream Held Close: Life and Legacy in Freedmen’s Town [00:11:05:00]
A Dream Held Close: Resonance [00:04:38:00]
A wash of images shows Freedmen’s Town as it exists today — its streets, houses, and spaces moving gently through the lens. Set to music, the film evokes the rhythm and texture of everyday life, letting the neighborhood itself become a space to inhabit, feel, and remember.
Through documentary film, longtime residents Bobby Johnson, Charonda Johnson, Pastor Samuel Smith, and Dr. Sally Wickers share their lived experiences of Freedmen’s Town. Their testimonies center the voices of the community, offering insight into its history, resilience, and ongoing legacy.
